The mouse is an external input device for computers and also serves as an indicator for positioning the X and Y coordinates in the computer display system. It gets its name because it resembles a mouse (in Hong Kong and Taiwan, it is called "slipper mouse"). Its standard name should be "mouse device", and its English name is "Mouse". The use of a mouse is to make computer operations more convenient and efficient, replacing the cumbersome commands of the keyboard. With the development of technology, mice have been divided into wired and wireless types. The mouse was invented by Dr. Douglas Engelbart, a doctor from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1964. At that time, Douglas Engelbart was working at the Stanford Research Institute (SRI), which was an institution sponsored by Stanford University. The patent name of his invention was "Machine for Indicating X-Y Position in Display System". In 1984, the launch of the Macintosh computer made the mouse a standard configuration for personal computers, and the popularization of the Windows system further promoted the graphical user interface operation method. Modern mice adopt ergonomic design, fit the curvature of the palm, and are equipped with anti-stain coatings to enhance durability. Some high-end models come with high-precision sensors such as HERO 16K and Razer Focus Pro 30K. Wireless charging technology has been applied to specific product lines, while retaining 2.4G wireless transmission and Bluetooth connection methods. Professional gaming mice are equipped with programmable buttons, optical microswitches, and RGB lighting systems. Some models have a click lifespan of over 500,000 times.
Mechanical mouse (ball mouse): The rubber ball transmits to the pulse signal sensor of the grating wheel which is equipped with light-emitting diodes and phototransistors.
Optical mouse: The infrared light scattered by the light spot is directed at the light-emitting semiconductor and photoelectric sensor of the particle, generating a pulse signal from the light source sensor.
Wireless mouse: Utilizing DRF technology, it converts the movement on the X or Y axis of the mouse, as well as the pressing or releasing of keys, into wireless signals and transmits them to the host.

According to their working principles, mice can be classified into mechanical mice and optical mice. Mechanical mice are mainly composed of a ball, a roller column and a grating signal sensor. When the user moves the mouse, it drives the ball to rotate, and the ball in turn drives the roller column to rotate. The grating signal sensor at the end of the roller column collects the grating signal. The photoelectric pulse signals generated by the sensor reflect the displacement changes of the mouse in the vertical and horizontal directions. These signals are then processed and converted by the computer program to control the movement of the cursor arrow on the screen.
